FLUCA – Austrian Cultural Pavilion gathers curators, theorists and gallerists from the Western Balkans art scene to dialogue on the future vision of art in the region.

We will talk about the latest history of art from the Balkans, about the meaning of the Western Balkans, and whether it reflects (or does not reflect) on contemporary art in the countries concerned. An answer will be sought to the question of ways of integrating art from these countries into the context of the European scene.

International project | Public meeting of the CrossSections Project | Curated by: Basak Senova | Exhibition Labaratory, Helsinki |  19.05.2018

Exhibition Laboratory hosts the PUBLIC Meeting of the CrossSections project in Helsinki. As the speaker of the meeting, Basak Senova (TR) will introduce and talk about the research strains and the leading curatorial motive of the project. The meeting in Helsinki specifically aims to discuss the curatorial methodology and the structure of the project. In the second part of the meeting some of the participating artists including Behzad Khosravi Noori (IR/SE), Benji Boyadgian (FI/PS), Egle Oddo (IT/FI), Inma Herrera (ES/FI),Isa Rosenberger (AT), Lina Selander (SE), Nikolaus Gansterer (AT), Tamsin Snow (IE/UK), Otto Karvonen (FI) and Timo Tuhkanen (FI) along with some of the partners of the project will give their input.

Проектниот простор Прес ту егзит со задоволство информира дека Stacion – Центарот за современа уметност од Приштина го објави отворениот повик за учество на летната школа Summer School as a School (SSAS) за 2018 година.

Проектниот простор Прес ту егзит од Скопје како партнерска организација од основањето на проектот во соработка со организаторот Stacion – Центарот за современа уметност, а со поддршка на Министерството за култура на Р. Македонија овозможува финансирање на учество на школата за двајца македонски кандидати.

Summer School as a School (SSAS) е уметничка и образовна платформа иницирана и имплементирана од Stacion – Центарот за современа уметност во Приштина во соработка со Проектен простор Прес ту Егзит од Скопје, групата IRWIN, Cultural Center Rex / Fund b92, Белград, Art House, Скадар, Institute for Contemporary Art, Подгорица, Sonemus Association, Сараево, Independent Curators International – ICI, Њујорк.

Програмата на школата ќе се одржува во периодот од 16-ти јули до 2-ри август, 2018 година.  

Крајниот рок за пријавување на истата е 20-ти мај, 2018. Резултатите ќе бидат објавени најдоцна од 30-ти мај, 2018 година.

Exhibition |  responseAbility | Artist from the AIR program West Balcan Calling: Stefano Romano/DZT, Dante Buu, Veronika Eberhart, Nina Valerie Kolowratnik, Marko Kosović, Wolfgang Obermair,  Danilo Prnjat, Gregor Schlatte, Deniz Sözen, tadi, Inge Vavra, Velimir Zernovski | Graz (9.3.2017 , < rotor > association for contemporary art and in Vienna (7.3.2017, Kunsthalle Exnergasse/ KEX Studio)  6 pm

From 2015 to 2016, the artist-in-residence programme “West Balkan  Calling” took place in Belgrade, Cetinje, Prishtina, Sarajevo, Skopje and Tirana as well as in Graz, Klagenfurt, Krems, Linz and Vienna.  A total of 12 artists visited the cities mentioned above for a residency.  During this time, they realised works of art and/or were inspired to create new works, which will be presented in the exhibition  “responseABILITY”.

The observations and individual experiences made within the guest artists’ residencies form the starting point of the exhibition.  They could check their expectations, compare them with their impressions on site and put them into relation to their own living environments. Moreover, the mutual exchange opened up the possibility to compare perceptions of the different cultural spaces.

Насловен по дело на хрватскиот уметник Младен Стилиновиќ (1947-2016), проектот е инспириран од неговиот постојан анти-систематски уметнички пристап во потрага по поавтономни начини на уметничкото создавање.

Press to Exit Project Space together with Museum of Contemporary Art invites you to the lecture by Sabina Sabolović, member of the curatorial collective What, How & for Whom/WHW. 

Sabina Sabolović will present the practice of the curatorial collective she is part of – What, How & for Whom/WHW – which is concerned with continuous reconfiguration of the relationships of artistic and cultural production with notions of history and politics.  The presentation will be focused on their most recent project My Sweet Little Lamb (Everything we see can also be otherwise) they co-curated in collaboration with Kathrin Rhomberg.  Titled after a work by Croatian artist Mladen Stilinović (1947-2016), the project was inspired by his life-long anti-systematic artistic approach that searched for more autonomous ways of artistic production.

Iaspis hosts the Public Meeting of the CrossSections project in Stockholm. The speakers of the meeting will be the Iaspis Studio Grant Holder Yane Calovski (MKD), the curator of the project Basak Senova (TUR) and participating artist of the project Ramesch Daha (AUT).

CrossSections is a cross disciplinary research platform focusing on the meaning of “process” in artistic research with aim to articulate critical reactions to the political, economic, and social disturbances facing us today. The project emerged from the need to challenge the ‘status quo’ across the political spectrum and support effective and critical forms of discursive and artistic productions to emerge. In the course of two years (2017-2018), the project is expected to engage with a number of artists, scholars and cultural workers, producing a varied forms of meetings, residencies, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and talks designed to be held in three cities: Vienna, Helsinki, and Stockholm.

The basis for the professional working of a museum – collection policy, programming and exhibition activities, public communications, publishing, education, and marketing – is a coherently conceived vision. But today, when museums seem to focus principally on ways and means of marketing their collections and collection-related content, it is necessary to be aware of the dangers of marketing-based approaches in the conception of museum polices.

In his lecture Anton Lederer will focus on the question of institutional strategies. What kind of art do we want to present and produce? And, whom do we want do address with our cultural activities?
Many art institutions and initiatives face the same situation: There is a well informed but relatively small audience of experts and art lovers. How can we attract other people for contemporary art who often think that it is too complicated and only for insiders? Anton Lederer will follow the idea that an art production which is related to people’s personal life circumstances and touches questions of the nowadays society is able to raise strong interest of many.

Кои се начините преку кои можеме да ги привлечеме останатите заинтересирани за современа уметност, кои често мислат дека истата е премногу комплицирана и достапна само за искусните познавачи? Антон Ледерер ја следи идејата дека уметничката продукција која е поврзана со личните животни околности на луѓето и ги допира прашањата на денешното општество, може и треба да предизвика поголем интерес во јавноста.

Jovanka Popova, the executive director of JADRO Association of the Independent Scene in Macedonia represent the association at “Participatory Governance in Culture: Exploring Practices, Theories and Policies. DO IT TOGETHER.” conference, held in Rijeka, Croatia from 22-24 November 2017.  The international and interdisciplinary conference was organized by Kultura Nova Foundation in partnership with Rijeka 2020 LLC, in collaboration with the European Cultural Foundation, and with the support of Central European Initiative regional intergovernmental forum. It has been selected as an ENCATC labeled event. The conference is part of the “Approaches to Participatory Governance of Cultural Institutions” project supported by UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity.

Јованка Попова, куратор и програмски координатор на роектен простор Прес ту егзит, присуствуваше на Годишната конференција на CIMAM 2017 “Улогите и одговорностите на музеите во граѓанското општество“ која се одржа во Националната галерија во Сингапур, како еден грантистите на ЦИМАМ, со грант доделен од “Гети” фондацијата.

Со оглед на зголемениот наплив на популистички национализам на кој сведочиме ширум светот и проширувањето на темата од конференцијата во Барселона (Музејот и неговите одговорности), темата на конференцијата има за цел да ги преиспита улогите на музеите , нивните јавни функции и нивното учество во граѓанското општество.
