Workshop description
How do you work as ‘socially responsive designer’? As an alternative process to brainstorming, in this three-hour creative workshop you will be introduced to a method for ‘bisociating’ different types of diversity to create socially responsive design ideas. This design method has evolved out of our ongoing research into ‘metadesign’ (Jones and Lundebye, 2012). It aims to provide a focused framework for ideation and a way to tease out fresh and possibly surprising new concepts. It can be a starting point for rapid prototyping of ideas. The workshop participants would work individually, in pairs and in groups. The workshop will culminate in a wider discussion, highlighting the findings and the possible further target areas for research and practical implementation.
